Blues in E No. 1

I am very fond of the blues, and especially of the ethos involved – improvisation, groove, and the limitless way that it can be expressed. Here is a solo blues piece, making use of E and A open string pedal tones. I like using pedal tones because they give a much fuller richer sound across the sonic spectrum, when playing a solo piece. In this piece I use the sound of 9th and 13th chords to suggest a swing sensibility, while following pretty much a standard 12 bar progression. The composition has two alternating parts, with the second part composed of stabs on the chords interspersed with E minor pentatonic licks in open position. Enjoy!
