I have been setting up a stall at the Samford Markets recently. I play a few tunes, and invite people along for a jam. I’ll also put some strings on for you – I have a limited range of strings available that can get you playing again! So drop by and say hi – and sit in for a jam or play a song together! That’s the great thing about music, it’s ability to bring people together! I am also available to talk about how we might work with lessons! Next markets is on Saturday 10th April, from 7am to 12noon! At the St Paul’s Anglican church grounds, in Samford.
We have had a snap COVID lockdown here in Brisbane, which means that in-person lessons won’t be happening this week. Apologies to all affected! I will be offering to reschedule all lessons affected this week to times within the school holiday period, in the two weeks following Easter. Most students I have heard from so far are taking up this offer to reschedule – thank you – that really helps me and helps you too!
For those who can’t reschedule, I am offering a Zoom lesson this week. This will enable us to keep in touch and keep your tuition moving ahead.
If neither of the above options work for you, I will be able to credit this weeks lesson against next term’s fees.
I have emailed or texted all students, if you haven’t heard from me directly, please get in touch as it means my email has gone astray!
Thanks to all my students and their parents for their understanding and consideration, as we work together to keep everyone safe and well.
Now that the COVID situation is easing in Queensland, lessons have recommenced in person at both The Gap and Samford Studios. I am very happy to be seeing everyone in person again. We will be meeting COVID management obligations in both studios, which means that
- We will be sitting 1.5m apart
- 4 square metres of space per person (This will mean that the Samford Studio will accomodate only one student at a time)
- Hand sanitiser will be available for use before and after lessons
- I will be regularly disinfecting surfaces
- I will not be handling students books or instruments unless absolutely necessary.
- I will no longer be providing picks for student use. You will need to bring your own plectrum.
This will mean some slight changes to the way we do the lesson, including switching to electronic notes where practical.
Thanks for your understanding and patience.
Things have been moving very quickly with the Corona Virus pandemic, and I have been like many others, taking time to get on top of the advice from the government, as well as other sources.
As a result, I have decided to switch to online delivery of lessons across the board, starting from Monday 23rd March. I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but believe it is the right thing to do for community safety. When things have settled down, I expect we will be able to return to lessons as usual.
I realise the this may not suit every student, and if that’s the case, I am happy to hold your remaining lesson payment for this term in credit for future lessons. Otherwise I think the online format will allow us to maintain continuity of instruction while doing our bit to slow the spread of the virus.
All students would have received a communication from me by email, with a text notification where possible as well, giving you the information you need to access your online lesson, which will be at the same day and time as usual. If you haven’t received this communication, please contact me as soon as possible. If you need to change the lesson time, get in touch with me, and we can work out an alternative time, though it’s helpful for me if we can minimise such changes.
I appreciate your kindness and support with this new approach – I will be on a learning curve with it, and hopefully there won’t be too many teething problems. My wish is for everyone to get through the next few months safely and in good health.
Teaching begins again for 2018 on Monday 22nd January. I am looking forward to meeting new students starting this term, as well as welcoming back continuing students. Don’t forget that there will be no lessons on Friday 26th January due to the public holiday. If you are looking for guitar lessons in Samford or The Gap, or surrounding areas, then get in touch by phone or email!
Well another term and another year is drawing to a close. Thanks to all students and their families for another great year of teaching guitar! Regular lessons will finish up on Friday the 8th of December for the holiday season, and resume again on Monday 22nd January. I will be available for casual lessons at various times in January and December – send me an email to email@example.com if you would like to book in a time!
Also guitar lesson gift certificates are a perfect gift idea…email me on as above if you would like to enquire!
In the meantime, I wish all students and their families the best of the festive season, and look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
I have been having a well earned break during he school holidays…but now looking forward to teaching resuming on Monday 10th July. This term will go through until Friday 15th September.
New Invoicing Look
During the holidays I have been busy trying to set up some new software to manage my teaching timetable and invoicing. So you will notice a change in the way invoices look! It’s possible that some things might get overlooked in the transition, so if there’s a problem with the invoice, lesson time or term fees, please send me an email and I will resolve it!
Make up lessons
The new system should also make it easier to organise and coordinate make up lessons. My policy on make up lessons is that I am happy to reschedule a lesson if an alternative time can be found…however I do request at least 24 hours notice, so that your vacated slot can be offered to someone else. Up till now, I have coordinated this through texts, emails and phone calls. With the new software, it will be managed through an online student portal! More details when it’s all up and going!
For families with two or more students taking lessons, my practice has been to issue an invoice for each student, with the second one payable halfway through the term. With the new system, this has proved a step too far for my computer skills, so for those families, please feel free to split the invoice into two payments, with the second one due prior to week 6. I will issue you a new statement with balance remaining on receipt of your first payment!
Fees for this Term
Fees are $38 per lesson when paid by the lesson, or $31 per lesson when paid by the term. These fees are very competitive for quality professional tuition, especially if you take advantage of the generous discount for paying up front for the term.
So welcome back to all returning students, and a welcome to new students.
After a well earned break over the christmas and New Year holidays, we are all set to begin teaching again for term 1, full of enthusiasm for music and guitar! I would love to help you in your journey of musical discovery with the guitar! Rob’s Guitar School will be celebrating its 7th birthday this year, underlying my commitment to providing quality long term tuition in The Gap, Samford and surrounding localities of Brisbane.

I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and New Year! Lessons recommence for 2014 on Tuesday 28th of January. Times and days will be the same as last term, unless you’ve requested a different time! I aim to get the invoices out early on the week of the 20th. I look forward to seeing all my students again in 2014!
The end of year concert is a valuable opportunity for students to get some experience at performing for an audience, and a great motivator for getting some serious practice under way! It is also important to celebrate students’ achievements during the year.

For those coming from The Gap, be aware that Camp Mt Rd has two intersections with Samford Rd.
