Lessons at The Gap affected by Quarantine

Lessons at The Gap this week  are now affected by quarantine! As the household from whom I rent The Gap teaching space has been ordered into quarantine, lessons at The Gap cannot take place in person, this week, on the 9th and 12th of August. I will be standing by on Zoom for an online lesson instead, or please contact me to reschedule to another day this week at the Samford Studio. If neither of those options works for you, please be in touch to make alternative arrangements! Lessons at Samford are unaffected. Apologies for the inconvenience, but important that we all stay safe and well.

Lockdown lifted!

Lessons will be running as normal in Samford and The Gap, from Monday 9th August, due to lockdown being lifted. Please wear a mask if required to do so under current health orders! Let’s all stay safe and well! Thanks, Rob.

Arrangements for COVID lockdown

As most people would be aware, the Queensland Government has instituted a COVID lockdown from Saturday July 31 at 4pm for 8 days. All lessons will be held by Zoom link up to and including Friday 6th August. All students have been emailed the Zoom link – please be in touch if you haven’t received it!

If the lockdown has to be extended, lessons will continue by Zoom until the lock down is lifted, and we can resume our in person meetings. If it’s not possible for you to have lessons by Zoom, pease get in touch to make other arrangements!

Thank you for your understanding!

Regards,
Rob

Back at The Samford Markets

I am planning to be back at the Samford Markets on Saturday 12th June! It’s been great fun at the markets, I have met some great players and enjoyed some lovely jams! I’ll also put some strings on for you – I have a limited range of strings available that can get you playing again! So drop by and say hi – and sit in for a jam or play a song together! That’s the great thing about music, it’s ability to bring people together! I am also available to talk about how we might work with lessons! Markets are from 7am to 12noon! At the St Paul’s Anglican church grounds, in Samford.

Arrangements for COVID lockdown – March 2021

We have had a snap COVID lockdown here in Brisbane, which means that in-person lessons won’t be happening this week. Apologies to all affected! I will be offering to reschedule all lessons affected this week to times within the school holiday period, in the two weeks following Easter. Most students I have heard from so far are taking up this offer to reschedule – thank you – that really helps me and helps you too!

For those who can’t reschedule, I am offering a Zoom lesson this week. This will enable us to keep in touch and keep your tuition moving ahead.

If neither of the above options work for you, I will be able to credit this weeks lesson against next term’s fees.

I have emailed or texted all students, if you haven’t heard from me directly, please get in touch as it means my email has gone astray!

Thanks to all my students and their parents for their understanding and consideration, as we work together to keep everyone safe and well.

Lessons reccomence in person

Now that the COVID situation is easing in Queensland, lessons have recommenced in person at both The Gap and Samford Studios. I am very happy to be seeing everyone in person again. We will be meeting COVID management obligations in both studios, which means that

  • We will be sitting 1.5m apart
  • 4 square metres of space per person (This will mean that the Samford Studio will accomodate only one student at a time)
  • Hand sanitiser will be available for use before and after lessons
  • I will be regularly disinfecting surfaces
  • I will not be handling students books or instruments unless absolutely necessary.
  • I will no longer be providing picks for student use. You will need to bring your own plectrum.

This will mean some slight changes to the way we do the lesson, including switching to electronic notes where practical.

Thanks for your understanding and patience.

Rob Reeves

Corona Virus Arrangements

Things have been moving very quickly with the Corona Virus pandemic, and I have been like many others, taking time to get on top of the advice from the government, as well as other sources.

As a result, I have decided to switch to online delivery of lessons across the board, starting from Monday 23rd March. I apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, but believe it is the right thing to do for community safety. When things have settled down, I expect we will be able to return to lessons as usual.

I realise the this may not suit every student, and if that’s the case, I am happy to hold your remaining lesson payment for this term in credit for future lessons. Otherwise I think the online format will allow us to maintain continuity of instruction while doing our bit to slow the spread of the virus.

All students would have received a communication from me by email, with a text notification where possible as well, giving you the information you need to access your online lesson, which will be at the same day and time as usual.  If you haven’t received this communication, please contact me as soon as possible. If you need to change the lesson time, get in touch with me, and we can work out an alternative time, though it’s helpful for me if we can minimise such changes.

I appreciate your kindness and support with this new approach – I will be on a learning curve with it, and hopefully there won’t be too many teething problems. My wish is for everyone to get through the next few months safely and in good health.

Kind Regards,

Rob Reeves

Teaching begins again for 2018 on Monday 22nd January. I am looking forward to meeting new students starting this term, as well as welcoming back continuing students. Don’t forget that there will be no lessons on Friday 26th January due to the public holiday.
