Rob’s November Gigs

Rob plays the BUG

If you like Jazz Manouche, that is Gypsy Jazz, pop into the BUG (Brisbane Unplugged Gigs) at the New Farm Bowls Club on Tuesday November 20th – I will be playing double bass in a Jazz Manouche night featuring some great Gypsy Jazz guitarists from around Brisbane, including Ewan MacKenzie and Sean Quinlan. More details here.

The night will be a warm up for the annual OzManouche festival which will be held the 23rd to 25th of  November at the Brisbane Jazz Club.

Gypsy Jazz is based on the music style of Django Reinhardt – contemporary exponents of the style include Stochelo RosenbergBiréli Lagrène, and Angelo Debarre – all worth a listen if you are interested in the style!

Bossas and Ballads at the Samford Homestead

I will also be playing a solo guitar set on Fridays 16th and 23rd November at the Samford Homestead Restaurant, from 6:30pm. Please phone Steve on 3289 1485 to confirm there haven’t been any late changes! The style is Bossa Novas and Ballads for a set of  jazz classics spiced up with some Indian rhythms and scales to match the Indian buffet.

Bossas and Ballads at Zegatos in the Gap

If you are in The Gap, drop into Zegatos at the Ashgrove Gold Club, on Saturday nights in November. I will be doing a set of  jazz guitar tunes with  assistance from looping pedal! Phone Shane or Tony on 3366 1842 to make a booking and make sure there are no late changes! The music kicks off at 6:30pm.
